Huddersfield Giants Under 19s were brought back down to earth with a bump following their heroics against Leeds at Headingley last week.

Just five days after beating the Rhinos 30-10, coach Chris Thorman’s men went down 56-12 to the outstanding Wigan Warriors in a rearranged Academy clash at Orrell.

The visitors trailed 18-6 at half-time before the Cherry and Whites really turned the screw in the second 40.

Liam Johnson and Canaan Smithies scored the Giants’ tries, while Jack Miller added both conversions.

They will now be hoping to get straight back on track at home to London Broncos at the YMCA on Saturday (noon).

It was also a disappointing weekend for the club’s Under 16s, who went down 46-6 at Leeds Rhinos.
