The Giants Super League squad will have some time off over Christmas.
But head coach Paul Anderson has warned his players they won’t have too long to relax.
Despite a punishing start to pre-season training ahead of the 2016 top-flight campaign, the Huddersfield chief intends to put his squad through their paces between Christmas and New Year to make sure they continue to build on the progress being made under new head of strength and conditioning John Noonan.
“The players have deserved a Christmas break,” said Anderson.
“But that doesn’t mean they’ll have a complete break.
“They’ll be in for three days between Christmas and New Year – on December 28,29 and 30 – when they’ll be expected to rip in to the gym work.
“Physically, we’ve made some massive gains, which will hopefully be reflected in our performances next season and the style of play we adopt.
“For that to happen we’ve got to make sure we build on the progress we’ve made so far, and that means guaranteeing there’s no real let-up.
“Everyone in the squad has earned some time off, but we have to continue to keep working hard to progress.
“The players recognise that fact, and I know that will be shown with the way they’ll all be prepared to work over the next few weeks.”
