THERE’S only one place where we feel we ought to start this week.

That’s by giving a public ‘thank you’ and ‘well done’ to James Brammer, Paul Cribb, the inimitable Robbie Hunter-Paul, and the rest of the Huddersfield Giants marketing team.

What an absolutely fabulous pre-match entertainment package was served up last Friday at the Galpharm Stadium ahead of the Super League top-of-the-table clash against Wigan Warriors! There surely was something for everyone.

Apart from on the pitch, in the Fantastic Media Suite there was a special event for those supporters who were born in 1952 and 1953.

Aaron Murphy and Tommy Lee were quizzed by the host, Brian Blacker. Back in the 90s, Brian’s signing was seen as a sign – together with Alex Murphy at the helm – that the club was at last on the up.

In addition, David Thorpe, Nancy Beaumont and Dave Calverley shared their memories of the 50s. On top of that, Brian Heywood spoke about what our proud heritage means to the Giants.

Which leads on nicely to the Heritage pages of the website!

As previously mentioned, this is an ever-growing section of the site. One of the most popular is the reproduction of programmes and year books from yesteryear. If anyone has anything they would like to loan, then please get in touch with Dave Calverley.

Please be aware that our next meeting is on the second Tuesday in June, the 12th. We thought people might like to enjoy Her Majesty’s celebrations in full without having to think about us!

Plugs again for the Junior Disco (June 24th) and the Giant Olympics (July 13th) are also worth giving at this stage.
