This past week has seen a concerted effort to raise the profile of HGSA on Facebook. (Those of you who have already been left behind, now is the time to fast forward three or four paragraphs!).

This time last week we had 341 ‘Likes’. By Friday this had shot up to 494.

So far so good, you might think.

However, two days without posting obviously alienated four people because on Sunday only 490 people liked us!

In addition to our Facebook page, there are another three or four pages dedicated to the Giants where fans regularly share their delight, express their anger, and perpetuate the latest rumours.

This is in addition to the older, online Fans Forums, the most popular being RLFans.

They are all good places to chat with like-minded people and hear where our players are going next!

In the past couple of years, Shaun Lunt has been linked with six or seven Super League clubs and four or five Australian NRL ones. Hull KR was never mentioned!

Almost everyone has access to the internet these days, so why not check out some of these talking spots? Go to the ‘Links’ page on our website and you will be directed to them.

Which brings us back to our central theme this week – and it is directed to a very small audience.

To all our friends on Facebook, why have you not joined HGSA? It is only a fiver for 12 months-worth of activities.

And you will be helping the Giants.

We raise money for the further development of youngsters.

So, the more members we have, the more money will be raised, and more youngsters will be helped.

And now a message for those who do not visit us on Facebook.

Why don’t you join HGSA? After all, it’s only a fiver.

Everyone is welcome at all our events. Full details can be found at www.GiantsSupporters.co.uk . For our Facebook page, search in F/b for ‘Huddersfield Giants Supporters Association’.

The book ‘Huddersfield In WW1’ can be purchased at The Zone, online at www.HuddersfieldRLHeritage.co.uk , or via David Thorpe (01484 533378).
