Luke Robinson is confident the Huddersfield Giants have gone the right way about solving their poor form in the biggest games.

Huddersfield have developed an unwanted reputation as a side that suffers the ‘big freeze’ when the stakes are at their highest.

That’s particularly been the case in the Super League play-offs, with the Giants again stuttering in last season’s end-of-season shake-up and suffering defeats at the hands of Wigan and Catalan.

But vice-captain Robinson has revealed how desperate the Giants are to avoid a repeat in the future.

“Those defeats in last season’s play-offs have taken a lot of getting over,” said Robinson.

“And we have spoken regularly about what we need to do to start winning these play-off games.

“I signed my contract extension here because I believe we’re capable of winning a major trophy, and if we don’t we’ve underachieved.

“We’re now a regular top-four team, but something clearly seems to be missing when we reach the play-offs and the stakes start to get higher.

“That has to stop and we’re starting to come up with the answers.

“A lot of this pre-season has been about toughening us mentally as well as physically, and we’d like to think this will make all the difference this year.”
