HUDDERSFIELD Giants' Luke George is joining Super League rivals Hull KR on a month’s loan.

The 25-year-old Huddersfield Giants winger has struggled to get a regular start in 2013 – he has made just five starts this year – with in-form Aaron Murphy having taken his chance by storm.

But the injury-hit Robins are keen to get George on board and he could make his Hull KR debut in Sunday’s game against Leeds Rhinos at Craven Park.

Fellow Huddersfield man Dale Ferguson had a successful month on loan at Rovers earlier in the season and hasn’t looked back since returning to the John Smith’s Stadium.

And Giants officials are hoping it’ll be a similar story with George.

“At the moment, Jermaine McGillvary and Aaron Murphy are playing the majority of games on the wings and Matthew Dawson is always pushing for an opportunity,” said Giants managing director Richard Thewlis.

“So this is the chance for Luke to get some game time, which is obviously advantageous.

“I guess you could say Luke is in a similar position to Dale Ferguson when he had a loan spell at Hull KR earlier in the year and that was something that benefited all three parties, as we hope this will, too.”

Meanwhile, the Giants’ home fifth-round Tetley’s Challenge Cup clash against Leeds will be screened by the BBC on Saturday, May 11 (2.30).
