Hull FC coach Lee Radford is delighted to have beaten the Giants – because he knows his beaten opponents will eventually come good.

A fifth win on the trot for Radford’s in-form Black and Whites in Friday’s home 37-20 triumph made it nine defeats from 10 2016 Super League XXI starts for bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield.

But even though a win for Hull was widely anticipated, the KC Stadium boss was still relieved to get the two Super League points.

“This was a good win for us,” said the former Bradford Bulls teammate of Giants chief Paul Anderson.

“We were lacking a few of our experienced players going into the game and lost another in the warm-up, so there was a bit of disruption there.

“But we still came up with a very solid performance against a good Huddersfield team.

“I know they’re bottom of the table at the moment, but I don’t think that’s a true reflection of them. There’s a lot of quality in their squad.

“That’s why I believe that when they win a game they could get on a bit of a roll, so that’s why I’m really pleased we’ve beaten them before their real improvement starts.”
