GIANTS favourite Rod Jensen believes he was wrong to go for glory against Leeds, and wants to make amends at the Bulls tonight!

The 29-year-old powerhouse winger may have been one of his side’s stars in last Sunday’s 30-10 opening day Super League defeat to the Rhinos.

But he feels he paid the price for taking the option that enabled Leeds full-back Brent Webb to force him into touch as he attempted to score in the corner.

Had Jensen squeezed across, the Giants would have been just 10-8 behind in the 23rd minute with the kick to come.

Instead, Webb’s cover tackle gave the Rhinos a lift.

From that moment on they never looked back – and Jensen feels responsible.

“As one of the senior players in the squad, I have to take it on the chin and admit it was a blunder,” he confessed.

“Obviously, it was a brilliant cover tackle and I would have loved to have pulled it off myself.

“But, when I look back on it, there’s no way I should have got myself in that position.

“Rather than go for the corner, I should have stepped back inside and taken the tackle, because it was early in the count.

“If I’d have done that we could have put more pressure on the Leeds’ line and possibly scored from that set, which could have been crucial.

“There’s no doubt it was a turning point, but I still don’t regret going for the corner.

“On another day I could have scored it and we could have gone on and won the game. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

“And even though I’m gutted that it didn’t come off, especially for our fantastic fans, I know it’s not the end of the world.

“After all, this was just the first game of the season, and titles certainly aren’t won on day one.

“There’s still a long way to go, and I know we’re all looking forward to putting a few things right at Bradford tonight.”
