DAVID FAIUMU has finally arrived at the Giants and declared himself available for Sunday’s Super League trip to Castleford.
The 25-year-old New Zealand Test star trained with his new teammates for the first time yesterday.
That ended an eight-week wait for the hooker or second-row forward, whose move had been held up by red tape.
But the former North Queensland Cowboy, who has signed a deal which will keep him at the Galpharm until the end of the 2011 season, is desperate to make up for lost time.
“The last two months have been very frustrating, so it’s fantastic to finally be here,” said Faiumu, left.
“I’ve been keeping myself fit and I feel in pretty good shape.
“But I’ve really missed training as part of a team, so it was great to meet the boys and get cracking.
“Everyone was very welcoming and it’s already pretty clear there’s a great bunch of blokes here.
“Because I didn’t get here until yesterday morning, I haven’t done much training yet.
“But I intend to train the house down tomorrow and hopefully get the nod for this weekend.
“To be honest, I don’t mind at this stage whether it’s in the first team or the 21s, it’ll just be great to get back playing again. It’s now two months since my last game.
“Obviously, I’d love it to be in Super League, but right now I’m just happy to be here.”
