LUKE ROBINSON has moved to the Giants to win trophies!

The 23-year-old former England scrum half yesterday completed a three-year deal and will form an exciting half-back partnership with Kevin Brown.

The Sowerby Bridge-based player has moved to the Galpharm in the wake of Salford’s relegation from Super League.

But Robinson has admitted he would have moved to the Giants even if the City Reds had stayed up.

“I loved my three years at Salford, but I felt I was ready for a fresh start,” said the highly-rated playmaker, who began his career at Wigan.

“And as soon as I knew the Giants were interested in me, my mind was made up that this is where I wanted to be.

“I know how much my former teammates at Wigan were enjoying themselves and how highly they rated the coaching set-up (see Page 41).

“I’ve also seen the way the club has developed over the past few years, and I feel it’s got the potential to start picking up silverware.

“I would love to think I could be a part of that process and, to be honest, I don’t see why not.

“Having faced the Giants over the past few seasons, I know how strong they are in the forwards, and a half-back likes nothing more than that.

“Unfortunately, because I’ve told Salford I’ll be leaving at the end of the season, they’ve told me I won’t be considered for selection for the last two games.

“That’s a real shame. But it means I already can’t wait to start with the Giants.

“I’m a Halifax lad and I live just over the hill, so in a sense I do feel as if I’m almost coming ‘home’. I can’t believe how excited I’m feeling.”
