This will be the toughest week of my life, but I just can't wait!

TALK about being thrown in at the deep end!

Seven days ago, I was expecting this week to be no different, working at Capital Financial in Leeds as usual.

Instead, I'm on the Algarve bracing myself for a tough week's work with the Giants' Super League squad.

To be honest, I have to keep pitching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!

Anyway, I've now been briefed by the coaching staff as to what to expect during the week - and also been handed the task of providing the daily player diary.

It's something I'm more than happy to do, because this is so novel for me and I am keen to take in as much as possible. Doing the diary will make sure I remember a great deal more.

I have been on a tour before, as part of the England Under 16s squad to France when I played in two Tests out there.

But obviously, this is on a totally different level.

And, as an 18-year-old, I know what a fantastic opportunity this is to help in the development of my career.

I also know how lucky I am, because I'm only here because of the injury to Martin Aspinwall. It's now up to me to make the most of this incredible piece of fortune.

It's all pretty exciting, but I have to admit I'm still feeling nervous about being a part of something like this.

I'm not a total stranger to this squad, and I'm close to Leroy Cudjoe, Tom Hemingway and Si George, who are all about the same age as me and who I've trained with regularly in the Academy.

But last year, I also trained a fair bit with the first team, which helped me to get to know the boys.

A fair bit of that was in the week leading up to the Challenge Cup final and then in the final few weeks of the season.

They were a fantastic group, and they immediately made me feel at home.

They've also welcomed me into this training camp with open arms, which has been brilliant.

I think they all appreciate how daunting something like this is for someone like me, and they've been great to make sure I don't get left out.

I was particularly pleased to meet up with Brad Drew again.

Drewy, pictured, obviously plays in the same position as me, and when I trained with the first team last year he gave me some great advice which helped improve my game.

This week I hope to learn even more off him, because if I can try and follow in his footsteps, I'm not doing too badly am I?

I know this week is going to be the toughest of my life, I just hope I'm ready for it.

If I can make a positive impression in the next seven days, I hope I'll put myself in the Super League frame sooner rather than later.
