HUDDERSFIELD Giants are planning to make their first engage Super League XI home game of the season as memorable as possible!

The opening Galpharm Stadium assignment for coach Jon Sharp's side will be against Warrington Wolves on Sunday, February 19 (3.00).

It's a contest that should attract a good crowd, particularly if Huddersfield put up a decent performance at Leeds Rhinos in their opening fixture seven days before.

But with the likes of Robbie Paul, Martin Aspinwall, Albert Torrens and Stephen Wild ready to make their home debuts, Giants' officials are confident an attendance well above last season's average of 5,383 can be achieved.

"As far as the Giants marketing department is concerned, our season really starts now," said excited marketing officer Jonathan Wilkinson.

"We started some preparatory work the day after last season had finished on September 18.

"But now we've got hold of the fixtures, it's all systems go!

"The aim next season is to try and make every home game as exciting as possible, but the Warrington fixture will obviously take priority.

"We want to start our campaign at the Galpharm Stadium with a bang, both on and off the field.

"And we know that the more fans we have shouting for the Giants, the more chance the team will have of securing the win that will give us the perfect home start.

"Warrington will bring a lot of fans, but we know we can out-shout them.

"Season-tickets are continuing to sell well and we already have a number of new season-ticket holders on board, which is highly encouraging.

"Our attendances last season were up 26% on 2004, and we would love to see a similar increase in 2006.

"We know it can be achieved, especially on the back of this strong Giants squad.

"And a fantastic opening against the Wolves is just what we need."
