JACOB FAIRBANK has got the Super League bug.

The Giants prospect made his top-flight bow in the victory over Hull KR and can’t wait for next Friday’s clash with Challenge cup semi-finalists St Helens to come round.

While Saints face Wigan in tomorrow’s first semi-final, loose forward Fairbank hopes to push his claims for further selection under Galpharm coach Nathan Brown.

“It was a great feeling for me to play against Hull KR and undoubtedly the biggest highlight of my career to date,” said Fairbank.

“After the game, the coach gave me a few encouraging words and it’s made me really determined to get out there again and play at Super League level more in the future – having a taste of that kind of game has made me want it even more.

“I just want to keep working hard in training and develop as a player by ironing out a few things in my game; hopefully if I can do that then the opportunities will come along.”

Fairbank had dual registration experience at Halifax and added: “It really helped me.

“It’s given me a lot of confidence facing men rather than playing at Under 20’s level.

“It’s been a good progression for the likes of me and Adam (Walker) and helped us make the step up.”
