HI, it’s Jammer here.

Well, five games to go and we are really trying hard for a final push before the semi-finals!

The heartache of last Friday’s one-point loss at Leeds Rhinos is still a sore one, but there is no room for feeling sorry for ourselves.

If we can win four out of the last five games, we’ll be right in the mix of things, with some big guns returning from injury in time to play ourselves into top form before the semis.

The return of the three big boys, Dave Fa’alogo, Andy Raleigh and Keith Mason, as well our captain Brett Hodgson, will be a big boost, and then, of course, the flying winger – me! Well, ‘flying’ may be stretching it a little, with ‘the old statesman’ tag probably a better analogy.

But, whatever anyone wants to call me, let’s all get together as a town and push the Giants into the semis!

And it’s great to know a number of local juniors will be part of that semis mix.

The growth of these talented young players is going really well, and it’s no surprise at all.

Like I’ve been saying for the last two years, we are now getting the best out of the younger generation, such as Leroy Cudjoe, Micheal Lawrence, Larne Patrick, Jermaine McGillvary and Adam Walker to name just a few.

Junior development is the key behind success and if you ask any successful coach he will tell you that youth and experience is the way to get there fastest.

In the coming years, with the youth system the Giants have set-up, we are set to reap the rewards, with some real exciting rookies coming through in the Under 16s and Under 18s.

I have personally worked with the Giants Academy Under 15s, and what a great bunch they are! They’re a really talented group of young men who are so dedicated and hungry to make it.

I also saw first-hand the Under 16s and was really taken aback by the skill, size and pace of the these kids, and I hear very good reports of their current trip to Australia.

Watch this space for these young kids who could be up training with the first team in no time at all.

IT was exciting to hear the news we have signed Test lock and State of Origin player Luke O’Donnell from North Queensland Cowboys.

This time last year I was writing about the major coup in nabbing Dave Fa’alogo, and the club just keeps getting bigger by signing big players every year and we are now regularly linked with big-name stars of the Australian NRL.

This guy is a beast and the thought of him running around the field with Dave Fa’alogo frightens me to death – and I’ll be on the same side as them!

I can certainly imagine them working as a team of tigers hunting their prey. Look out 2011!
