Leroy Cudjoe believes spending almost a full pre-season with Joe Wardle will make their Giants’ centre partnership far stronger in Super League 2015.

The duo are already regarded as one of the best centre pairings in the top-flight.

And with Cudjoe’s previous England commitments meaning he’s taking part in his first full pre-season in five years – and Wardle full of confidence after finishing the last campaign as the Giants Player of the Year – he’s convinced they’ll be even more effective next season.

“It’s great having Joe as a centre partner,” said former Newsome Panthers junior Cudjoe.

“He’s very different to me in the way he plays the game, but we always try to help each other and give little tips to help us both become better players.

“That’s what we’re able to do all the time right now, and that’s something we’ve not been able to do in a pre-season in the past.

“That’s a real positive for the future, and I’m looking forward to seeing how much further our partnership develops and how far Joe can go in the game.

“Over the last couple of years, he’s come on great, and on his day he’s certainly one of the best centres in the league.

“He’s become a very important part of our team. He’s still young and will only get better and better.”

Cudjoe also feels there’s a lot of improvement in himself, too, following the pre-season work he’s already done.

“Even though it’s been challenging, both mentally and physically, I feel really good and I’m enjoying it,” he added.

“I’ve been able to get myself fully fit after picking up a few knocks last season and preparing for the year ahead.

“Doing a proper pre-season also means I’ve been able to work on a few things with my game as well.”
