RECENT Giants signing Stephen Jones is back from his loan spell at Featherstone Rovers and determined to close in on a first Super League start.

While fellow senior squad man Jason Southwell is staying at the National League I club on a week-by-week basis, former Newcastle Falcons RU centre Jones is back at Huddersfield full-time.

And having now had a taste of first-team rugby league at Rovers, he is desperate to experience life in the top flight.

"The experience I gained at Featherstone was fantastic," said the 22-year-old former England RU Under 19s international.

"As a newcomer to rugby league, it was a great chance to learn a lot more about the game at a decent level.

"Overall, I felt my spell went OK.

"But I'm back at the Giants now, and having had a taste of life at National League level I'm now even more determined to take the step up to Super League.

"I know I've still got a lot of work to do.

"But I'm now fitter than ever before, thanks to the tough regime of Geoff Evans (Giants' Head of Athletic Performance), and I'm learning more about the game every day.

"It's just a case of being patient, continuing to work hard and wait for my chance."

Jones was, of course, signed by the Giants thanks to the club's Squadbuilder Fund.

The Fund's committee has already brought in thousands of pounds this year, after helping bring Stuart Jones to the club in 2004, and they are gearing up for one of their biggest events on Tuesday, May 31 (7.30).

That is a Fans Forum at the Galpharm when the guests taking questions from the audience will be Giants head coach Jon Sharp, Sky Sports' Bill Arthur, League Express editor Martyn Sadler and sports lawyer Richard Cramer, whose most recent client has been sacked St Helens coach Ian Millward.

Entry is £5 for adults and $3 for Under 16s.

* Giants star Marcus St Hilaire will meet the fans in the Sporting Pride shop (4-5pm) tonight when there will be a sale of selected old merchandise.
