NEW Giants assistant coach Kieron Purtill can’t believe how much Leroy Cudjoe and Michael Lawrence have progressed in the time he’s been away.

The former St Helens No2 is back at Huddersfield after spending almost four years away.

The Huddersfield-born duo had both just made their senior breakthroughs when Purtill left the Giants.

And the England Knights chief is confident they can go on and achieve even more – with others at the club in a position to follow suit.

“It’s fantastic to come back and see the way the likes of Leroy and Bruno have developed,” said Purtill.

“Leroy was just starting to come into his own and is now an England centre, while I’ll never forget Bruno coming on in the last couple of minutes for his debut at Warrington as a 17-year-old.

“He’s now looking a very accomplished back-row forward.

“And these two are prime examples of what can be done if you’re prepared to put in the hard work.

“They both grew up playing the game as juniors in Huddersfield and are now established Super League players.

“And I believe there’s even more of an opportunity to develop and get to the top under the systems the Giants now have in place.”
