IT’S been another good week to be a Giant, and I obviously hope it continues for the rest of the season.

A fortnight ago we were savouring a superb success at Wigan and now we are able to reflect on another good away win in Super League, this time at Castleford Tigers.

Then, on top of that, we’ve heard our caretaker coach Paul Anderson has signed a new two-year deal to be the assistant to our new boss Nathan Brown.

And that’s another piece of tremendous news.

It’s disappointing to be losing fellow caretaker coach Kieron Purtill to St Helens at the end of this season, although we can understand why.

But to have lost Baloo (Anderson) as well, would have been a massive setback.

To have been able to recruit a head coach of the calibre of Nathan is an absolutely massive coup for the club, but for the hand-over to go smoothly it really did need Baloo to continue to be around.

However, there’s far more to it than just that.

Paul was a tremendous player, and he’s already becoming a tremendous coach, and both he and Kieron have been doing a fantastic job since Jon Sharp left in June.

These two were really thrown in at the deep end, but they have handled everything that has been thrown at them and have gained their rewards.

We’ve had some fantastic wins with these two in charge, and I have no doubt whatsoever that a coaching team of Nathan and Paul can prove to be a real winning team.

Baloo has the complete respect of all the players and none of us is in any doubt that at some stage he will become a very successful first-team head coach.

From day one, he has helped bring on all the forwards in the squad, but he’s also more than willing to offer advice to the backs if he feels it may be appropriate. And, take it from me, what he says is always very sensible and very knowledgeable.

And we will all head to Hull on Sunday knowing the gameplan Baloo and Kieron will have put in place will serve us well.

We’ve had another excellent week on the training front, with the squad looking in pretty good shape for this time of the year and every single member of it desperate to be included in the 17 as we look to secure our first ever League success at the KC Stadium.

There are, unfortunately, going to be one or two bitterly disappointed individuals when the side is announced, but that’s just the nature of the beast.

Whether there are any major changes to the side that beat Castleford last week remains to be seen, but it’s fairly clear that our new signing, David Faiumu, is closing in on his debut.

This is David’s first full week with us and he’s settled in quite nicely, something which is reflected in the way he has been training. He’s looking very good.

I know how much he has benefited from having his mates, Rod Jensen, Paul Whatuira and Jamahl Lolesi, to look after him, and the sooner the rest of us make him feel a part of the team the better.

Fortunately, we are getting there on that front, and I don’t think it’s going to be too long now before we see what he can do on a Super League stage with the Giants.

But one player who already seems certain to be featuring this weekend is Kevin Brown, and I would ask those fans who travel over to the KC Stadium this weekend to take a close look at him or, more precisely, his colour.

At first glance, it may look as if young Kev could do with a good wash.

But, on closer inspection, you will all see that he has, in fact, been ‘Tango-ed’!

Yes, I’m afraid Kevin Brown is now Kevin Orange after bumping in to a spray-tanner who just happened to be at Jamahl Lolesi’s place the other night.

Don’t ask me how or why the sprayer came to be at Jammer’s, but in an unfortunate meeting between sprayer and player, Kev has now lost that natural white look and instead looks a very strange shade indeed.

But I’ll let you decide.
