HULL prop Paul King has thrown down the gauntlet to the Giants by predicting the current crop of players at the KC Stadium can prove to him they are the best by winning this season’s engage Super League Grand Final.

Fourth-placed Hull and fifth-placed Huddersfield go head-to-head in Saturday’s big play-off clash on the east coast (7.00), with the losers eliminated.

The winners would then need to win two more games to reach the Old Trafford Grand Final on Saturday, October 13.

Although Hull reached the Grand Final last season – where they were beaten by St Helens – that’s going to be a tall order for the winners.

But King feels he will head into Saturday’s home date with the Giants with his best ever chance of glory.

“If everyone is firing, this team is the best team I have played with. If everyone stays fit we have nobody to fear in this competition,” said King.

“Other teams will fear us more than we will fear them. We have to take each game as it comes, keep preparation good and hopefully we can keep kicking on.

“It’s going to be tough against the Giants, they have done very well this season. But after winning at Leeds and then beating Bradford last Friday, we’re feeling confident and looking forward to this weekend.”

Hull coach Peter Sharp has major selection problems, with a virtual full-strength squad to choose from.

Second-rower Willie Manu and full-back Motu Tony are in his 20-man squad after missing last week’s 20-10 win over Bradford, while winger Matt Sing is set to make his first appearance since aggravating a foot injury against St Helens seven weeks ago.
