Teenage hooker Kruise Leeming is hoping the confidence he’s taken from yesterday’s 38-16 home Super League win over Catalan Dragons will stand him in good stead for the future.

After losing on his four previous top-flight appearances for the Giants, the 18-year-old finally broke his duck against the French.

His 50 minutes on the field due to the early withdrawal of Kyle Wood with a knee injury were also the most he’s played in one Super League game.

And he’s determined to keep building on his highly enjoyable weekend experience.

“I was chuffed to bits with the way it went,” said Leeming, who doesn’t turn 19 until September.

“It felt great to be on a winning Giants Super League side for the first time and it was also great to get about 50 minutes under my belt, because that’s not happened before at this level either.

With Leeming involved in first-team action it means he hasn’t been considered for tonight’s re-arranged Under 19s home Academy clash against Wigan Warriors at Laund Hill (7.30).

But full-back Jake Connor has been included after playing in the recent Super League fixtures against Bradford Bulls and Castleford Tigers.

The main talking point of tonight’s game, however, could be the fact it will played under the two-referee rule employed in the Australian NRL, with top officials Richard Silverwood and James Child in the middle.

It’s part of a process to decide whether a similar system should be introduced to Super League in the future.

Giants Under 19s: Jake Connor, Jarred Simpson, Tom Battye, George Croisdale, Darnel McIntosh, Will Milner, Jack Miller, Elliot Morris, Canaan Smithies, Tyler Dickinson, Will Cooke, Liam Johnson, Mikey Wood, Sam Luckley, Brad Cable, Daniel Abram, Will Gledhill, Zack McComb, Harry Redfearn.
