Kyle Wood is back in full training with the Giants.

The 26-year-old hooker or half-back missed the final three months of the 2015 Super League season after suffering a broken foot in the win at Catalans Dragons last July.

Since then he has undergone an intensive rehabilitation programme.

But the former Castleford and Wakefield man has this week joined up with the senior squad and played a full part in the field sessions – much to the delight of head coach Paul Anderson.

“Woody’s trained fully with us for the first time since July, and we’re obviously really pleased about that,” said Anderson.

Giants back for pre-season training. Head coach Paul Anderson.

“The key now is not to push him too hard and bring him back into action too soon.

“Over the past 12 months or so he’s suffered two substantial injuries to his knee (towards the end of the 2014 campaign) and then his foot, so we want to make sure that when he does come back this time, he stays back.

“All being well, he should be available for our trial games (starting at Halifax on January 10). But, as I say, we won’t be rushing anything.”
