A GROUP of senior players will share the Huddersfield Giants’ captaincy role between now and the end of the season.

New head coach Paul Anderson has wasted little time making changes to the squad and has already taken the captain’s armband off Kevin Brown, who is joining Widnes Vikings next season.

And there is mounting speculation the 27-year-old loose-forward could have played his last game for the Giants as he faces a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

He has already been ruled out of Sunday’s home Super League clash against Wakefield, with Anderson expected to make a number of changes to the side that was beaten 33-6 by Warrington in last Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final.

It will be the former Great Britain prop’s first game in charge since taking over from Nathan Brown, who was released early from his Giants contract ahead of his move to St Helens next season.

Anderson has yet to decide who will lead out the team this weekend.

But the choice will be made between one of the members of his newly-elected leadership group of Danny Brough, Eorl Crabtree, David Faiumu, Scott Grix, Luke O’Donnell and Luke Robinson.

"The leadership group is my choice, but I’ve left it to them to decide who’ll lead out the side this weekend," said Anderson.

"I’ve told them to go away, think about it and then let me know at training on Saturday.

"If they can’t decide, then I’ll decide it for them.

"But whatever happens, it won’t be Kev any more.

"Although there’s still a lot to play for this season, I’m also looking at things for next year, and those plans obviously don’t involve him."
