HUDDERSFIELD Giants' Junior Academy campaign has come to an end.

Coach Chris Plume's side signed off the season with a 25-14 defeat at Leeds Rhinos in the Grand Final Eliminator at Headingley.

The visitors were always behind in the contest, although influential half-backs Thomas Hemingway and Paul Mennell and forwards Chris Lawson, pictured, and Dave Valentine all gave it their best shot.

Leeds took the lead after 13 minutes with a try from Luke Halliday, goaled by Kyle Briggs, and the Rhinos were on the charge.

Hemingway did finish off a great handling move to make it 6-4 in the 28th minute.

But a converted Briggs' try five minutes before the break and an effort from Mark Watts within two minutes of the restart put Leeds firmly in control at 18-4.

Paul Mennell raced in for a superb solo try, converted by Hemingway, to reduce the deficit in the 52nd minute.

Unfortunately, however, Leeds again struck back with a converted Luke Gale try with 13 minutes remaining.

And despite a late Giants score from Danny Garside, Leeds had the final say with a Briggs drop goal.
