Leroy Cudjoe is backing the Huddersfield Giants young guns to fire their side to Super League success at Catalans Dragons later today.

The 28-year-old England centre has played a key role in Huddersfield’s upturn in fortunes over the past month as they’ve hauled themselves off the bottom of the top-flight table and moved into the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.

As a result, the Giants head to the South of France to tackle the second-placed Dragons (5.00) with renewed confidence.

And although it’ll be the first time some of the younger members of the squad will have sampled the intimidating French atmosphere – most notably forwards Josh Johnson (21), Nathan Mason (22) and Oliver Roberts (21) – Cudjoe expects them all to rise to the occasion.

“I think the younger boys who have stepped up this season have been absolutely awesome,” said Cudjoe.

“A lot of praise for our improved performances over the past few months have gone to the backs and, as one of those, I’ll always take that.

“But it really is the boys down the middle who deserve most of the credit, and the younger boys, in particular.

“Over the past few months the likes of Josh, Nathan and Oli have really come of age. They’ve stepped up and shown they can handle the demands of playing Super League week in, week out.

“They’ll be experiencing something totally different this weekend when they face Catalans Dragons in the South of France.

“But because they’re playing with no fear, I know how much they’ll love being part of an occasion like this and I expect it to bring the very best out of them.

“They really could make all the difference in the world for us.”
