LEROY CUDJOE wants to be a centre for the rest of his career.

The 22-year-old former Newsome Panthers junior signed with the Giants as a full-back and had dreamed of taking over the No1 shirt at his hometown club.

But following this season’s successful switch to centre, Cudjoe has made it clear he doesn’t want to move anywhere else.

“I can’t believe how much I’ve loved it in the position, and I’ve no intention of switching back,” he announced.

“When Browny told me in pre-season he wanted to try me out at centre I didn’t know what to expect.

“I’d never played there before, even at junior level, so it was a pretty big step.

“But I feel as if I’ve adapted to it well and I now feel really comfortable playing there.

“Although this season isn’t over yet, I’m already looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt at centre and then, hopefully, being able to give the side even more.”

Cudjoe is again expected to start at centre in Saturday’s Super League Preliminary Semi-final at Warrington Wolves.

It was the rising star’s 78th-minute try against Crusaders that set up this weekend’s Halliwell Jones Stadium showdown.

And Cudjoe is confident the Giants will give a good account of themselves and move within 80 minutes of a trip to the Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 2.

“It’s another massive game for us, but we’re all really excited about it,” he added.

“Warrington are a fantastic side and it’s going to be a huge challenge getting the better of them.

“But with the form we’re in we’ll be going there with confidence, and on the back of just sort of test we needed.

“I know we were very strong favourites to beat Crusaders last Saturday, particularly after we’d done the double against them.

“But the game at their place was still one of the most physical we’d played in, so we knew the play-off game wouldn’t be easy.

“It was just as tough as we expected and should prove the ideal preparation for this week.”
