IN-FORM prop Keith Mason believes confidence could hold the key to a Giants victory at Hull on Sunday (6.00).
Huddersfield head to the east coast on the back of outstanding away Super League wins at Wigan and Castleford over the past two weeks.
Hosts Hull, on the other hand, will be smarting from a 66-6 thrashing at the Warriors last Friday, albeit on the back of celebrating reaching this season’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley with a win over Wakefield five days before.
And Mason is confident his side can continue the good work and secure a first ever Huddersfield victory at the KC Stadium.
“Everyone is buzzing and ready to play,” said the former St Helens prop, who last week confirmed he has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Galpharm until the end of the 2011 campaign.
“We’ve already spoken about the fact we’ve never won at the KC Stadium before, but we’re confident we can finally break our duck this weekend.
“Confidence here is fantastic right now on the back of those wins at Wigan and Cas, and we’re really looking forward to the challenge of trying to make it three away wins on the trot this weekend.
“After what’s been a tough season, everyone is now playing with a smile on their face.
“And that’s what we intend to do again this week.
“We’ll be going over to Hull with the same state of mind as last week, knowing this is an occasion to enjoy – and hopefully win.
“Although we’ve not won at the KC, which is an awesome stadium, I’ve always enjoyed my visits there.
“That’s where I scored my first try for the Giants two years ago, and we’ve obviously been involved in some good battles at their place.
“We drew there last season in the League and then we all felt we were very unlucky not to have beaten them in the play-off game. We feel this is as good a chance as any to make up for that disappointment this weekend.”
