GIANTS coach Jon Sharp has warned his players they must improve on last week’s performance at Wakefield if they are to beat Harlequins at The stoop tomorrow (3.00).

His Huddersfield squad headed down south this morning with confidence in the camp high after their 24-23 Super League win at the Wildcats five days ago.

The victory was the Giants’ first in their last six League starts and has re-ignited their play-off bid.

Sharp knows, however, that if his side doesn’t play to their full potential this weekend, another defeat will be on the cards and the Giants will be back to square on.

“We played very well in the second half at Wakefield, but we’ll have to play better at Harlequins tomorrow,’’ he said.

“Quins are playing really well and it’s no accident they are in the top six.

“Offensively, they’re one of the most dangerous sides in the competition. Mark McLinden is on fire, and Scott Hill and Danny Orr are back together and making the team tick.

“Couple that with an aggressive set of forwards and you know you’re up against a very effective side.

“They had a bit of a blip at Hull a week ago, but I think that will make them more dangerous tomorrow. They’ll be determined to get that out of their system.

“It’s another big game, and we have to be at our best.’’

Tomorrow’s action actually gets under way at 12.30, with a Senior Academy curtain-raiser between the two clubs.

Included in the Giants’ line-up will be the players who failed to make the Super League 18, while several of the club’s Under 18s may get a run-out after last night’s Junior Academy clash at Warrington was postponed.
