UNDERBANK Rangers’ big Conference National home clash against Featherstone Lions tomorrow has been postponed at the visitors’ request.

The Lions are unable to raise a side in the wake of a heavy 44-0 defeat at Dewsbury Celtic on Tuesday night.

Featherstone went into the game with just 15 fit men, and picked up several other major injuries during the course of the Crow Nest Park clash.

As a result, they now have just 10 players available this weekend, which obviously made the fixture a non-starter.

A new date has yet to be decided.

The news will have come as a big disappointment to coach Ritchie Hawkyard, who was desperate to return to winning ways after last week’s narrow 24-20 defeat at Celtic when they were denied by a late try.

Hawkyard would have been boosted by the return of prop Jason Southwell (work), winger Lee St Hilaire (hamstring) and half-back Matt Garside (ankle), who all missed the Dewsbury game.

However he would have been without fellow half-back Graham Charlesworth, who is on stand-by to play in a trial game for his local professional club, Halifax.

“Graham has been great for us in the past few weeks,” admitted Hawkyard. “But in Matt we know we have great cover.”
