A SPECIAL ceremony has been held at the George Hotel to celebrate the induction of rugby league greats Joe Egan, Frank Myler, and David Watkins MBE into the RL Heritage Centre Hall of Fame.

The event was organised by Sky Sports summariser Mike Stephenson, who is responsible for the RL museum established at the hotel and gave a tribute to the trio of former stars, while Mayor of Kirklees Eric Firth presented them with a caricature picture of themselves.

The function was also attended by RFL president Bev Risman, as well as over 50 members of the British Lions Association, several of whom are OBE, CBE, MBE, including Great Britain Lions captains, players, coaches and winners of theŠLance Todd Trophy, Harry Sunderland Trophy and the Man of Steel.

Sam Morton and Keith Burhouse, who both manage the museum on a voluntary basis for Stephenson, were awarded a gift from the former Lions and Dewsbury hooker in recognition of all their hard work and loyalty for services to the museum and the game of rugby league in general.

A new cabinet in the museum was also officially opened and appreciated by the British Lions, who have donated money for the construction of the cabinet and provided memorabilia on display to keep the memories of the Lions alive.

The event also raised £500 for the Alzheimers Society through a raffle.
