GIANTS Academy centre Richard Lopag is celebrating playing a major role in England Under 16s' Test success in France.

The England vice-captain finished the French tour as joint top tryscorer with three, along with Matthew Fox and Joe Westerman.

But world record tryscorer Lopag was the other one to have scored a try in each of the three games - the two Tests and a midweek match against the French Cadets.

Lopag scored England's second try - a 70m effort - in the 44-13 first Test triumph, and then grabbed the matchwinning try in the nailbiting 22-20 victory in the second Test.

In between, he also scored a try as the cadets were destroyed 74-0.

Now he is back in this country, the talented three-quarter will be gearing up to make his Giants debut in the Junior Academy.

Also on the tour was Newsome Panthers junior Jason Crookes, now on the books of Bradford Bulls, who was on the bench for all three games.
