LUKE ROBINSON will be the first-choice Huddersfield Giants scrum half in 2013.

Head coach Paul Anderson has confirmed he has given up his search for a new half-back and will switch last season’s hooker back to No7.

The former England ace will form a half-back partnership with new captain Danny Brough, which will allow Shaun Lunt to play hooker.

Robinson arrived at the Giants from Salford as a scrum half five years ago but has spent the past few seasons as a hooker.

“Our halves will be Luke Robinson and Danny Brough, and that’s a good combination in anyone’s book,” said Anderson.

“Robbo is obviously no stranger to the half-back role and has earned international recognition there in the past, so we have no hesitation at all putting him back there.

“On top of this, we’ve still got Scott Grix capable of playing in the halves as well, while in Lunty and Fuey (David Faiumu) we’ve still got two outstanding hookers. Even though we’ve not managed to recruit in the halves, we’ve still got internationals at six, seven and nine, so it could be a lot worse for us, couldn’t it?”

Anderson was today in charge of pre-season training for the first time.

Fitness testing was carried out last week, but the official work gets under way this morning.
