JERMAINE McGILLVARY is confident the Huddersfield Giants ‘new boys’ will make an immediate impression at Castleford Tigers on Friday night (8.00).

Jason Chan, Greg Eden, Luke George and Tommy Lee will all be named in the Huddersfield squad for the trip to the PROBIZ Coliseum.

Super League Rookie of the Year McGillvary knows his side faces a big challenge, with the Tigers fielding all their top stars.

But the Giants winger is confident his side will rise to the occasion, with the club’s new signings to the fore.

“The guys that have come in have settled in really well,” said McGillvary.

“They get on with everybody and are involved in the banter all the time, which is funny, but when we need to work hard, we work hard.

“We do a lot of stuff together and that helps us all bond closer together.

“And from what we’ve all seen, we’re looking forward to the new guys playing for us on Friday. We know they can do a good job for us.

“The pre-season games are all about everyone working together, and hopefully this is the time when things will fall into place.

“Pre-season’s been going really good so far. We’ve all been training hard and we’re looking forward to having a good season.

“Hopefully, we’ll know a bit more after Friday.”

McGillvary is also looking forward to testing himself out and reinforcing his belief that he has made a full recovery from double hernia surgery.

“With the way I’ve been training, I’m confident the surgery has been a 100% success,” he added.

“I’m now at the stage where I need to test myself out in the competitive environment, and that’s on Friday.”
