NATHAN BROWN is hoping Michael Lawrence will be back for the Giants over Easter.

The 19-year-old England Academy centre hasn’t played since he suffered an ankle injury in the opening stages of his side’s 26-20 Super League triumph over champions Leeds Rhinos on March 14, pictured.

But the ex-Newsome Panthers junior has responded well to treatment and is ready to return ahead of schedule.

Brown will leave a decision until later today on whether to include Lawrence in his 19-man squad for Friday’s home clash against Catalans Dragons (7.00).

But if he doesn’t face the French, the Huddersfield chief is confident his highly-talented three-quarter, known as Bruno, will be back for the Easter Monday trip to Salford.

“Having Bruno back now is very good news,” said Brown.

“It was one of those injuries where we just didn’t know for sure exactly how long he’d be out at first.

“But he’s ended up being out for about the same length of time as Brett Hodgson, who had a similar sort of injury, and we’re all delighted about that.

“It’s more likely Bruno will be back next Monday rather than this Friday, but the fact we know his return is so close is excellent.

“We have had our fair share of injuries, so the more players we can have back, especially over such a busy period, the better.”
