NATHAN BROWN celebrated his Giants coaching U-turn with Super League victory over Crusaders and declared: “Now let’s push on together!”

The Galpharm chief announced in May he would be returning to Australia at the end of the year for family reasons.

But that decision was finally reversed after a week of speculation and he immediately guided his side to a 30-12 triumph over the Crusaders.

And the 36-year-old admits he’s delighted.

“The decision was made on Friday night, and I’m happy to be staying,” said the Super League Coach of the Year, who will now see out his full three-year Giants contract .

“There were possibilities elsewhere that were discussed, but this decision is the right one.

“What’s changed is some family issues are not there any more. My wife (Tanya) was ill, but that’s not the case now, and the children are settled in school here.

“The family are happy, and I hope the Giants are happy. Everyone can now focus on pushing on together.”

Brown also revealed he has been considering a change of heart for the past four or five weeks, with the club having made the initial approach.

“As many of you are probably aware, my house in Australia burned down a few months ago,” he added.

“It was then (chairman) Ken Davy and (managing director) Richard Thewlis approached me wondering if that might have changed things regarding my future and if I’d consider staying as a result.

“That’s when we started to discuss it as a family, and things have gone on from there.

“Things happen for a reason and, with the way circumstances have changed, staying here now seems the right thing to do.

“I feel very comfortable with this decision, and I was delighted to tell the players about it at training on Saturday.

“I’d like to think they were happy about it, too.

“It will have given them some stability, as well as the club, for the next 12 months, because everyone knows where they’re going and what’s happening.”
