HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS skipper Kevin Brown is looking to use Huddersfield’s Super League trip to Castleford Tigers as a Challenge Cup boost.

After Sunday’s trip to the Probiz Coliseum (3.30), the Giants take on Warrington Wolves at Salford’s new Barton Stadium and Brown believes success against the Tigers will get their focus sharp.

“It is about us being at our best,” said Brown. “And we have to ensure we play to our best if we are going to win.

“It is always tough at Cas and we haven’t had the best results there the last few years, but we have got to set our minds to changing that, and it’s important we put in a performance.”

While the Giants go to Castleford on the back of a 28-24 defeat at Hull FC, their opponents had an even more humbling experience as they lost 40-10 at struggling Widnes.

“There were a lot of positives out of the game at Hull,” said Brown.

“The scoreline and the manner in which we lost was hard to take, but the performance was probably one of our best in the last month.

“It is going to be a big test for us this weekend and it is a game that leads into that big cup match, so we need to ensure we are in good form.

“As it is the last game before the semi we have to go into it fully focused and see if we can’t achieve a good win. Castleford have always been one of those teams who can turn up and play some fantastic football, but it’s about what we do.”
