BRAD DREW will make his Huddersfield Giants debut in Sunday's big Super League pre-season clash against Bradford Bulls at Odsal (3.00).

The new Australian recruit was today confirmed in the starting line-up as head coach Jon Sharp begins the final preparations for this weekend's tough trip.

Several places in the squad have yet to be finalised, but Drew, pictured left, is ready to start at hooker and can't wait.

"This is my Huddersfield Giants debut and that in itself is exciting," said the 28-year-old, who has signed on a two-year contract from top Australian NRL club Canberra Raiders.

"I've stated on a number of occasions already that I wasn't enjoying my time with Canberra and needed a new challenge to fire-up my enthusiasm.

"This move to the Giants has done just that, and I really can't wait to get cracking.

"I was enjoying pre-season training before we went on camp to Portugal.

"But I'm loving it even more as a result of the trip away. It's up there with the best I've been on.

"We've come back to England ready to play and it'll be good to put ourselves to the test against the Bulls.

"It's the chance to see how everything is coming together."

Fellow new recruits Paul Jackson and Chris Thorman are also in line to feature at Bradford, but Michael De Vere (knee) is still a month away.

And all three know this weekend's hit-out will prove invaluable.

"Obviously, the three of us have had to learn all the systems the Giants use and it takes time to take everything in," added Drew.

"The week in Portugal was a great help in that process, but Sunday is the acid test."
