NATHAN BROWN has backed Luke George to maintain his excellent early-season form against former club Wakefield at Belle Vue on Sunday.

Flying winger George has become an immediate hit with the Giants faithful after grabbing his second hat trick in five games for his hometown club in the thrilling 17-16 home triumph over St Helens.

The 24-year-old arrived at the Galpharm after spending the previous five seasons at Wakefield.

This weekend will be the first time George will have returned to his old club, and Brown is confident the Wakefield fans will see how much his winter signing has progressed.

“Luke is someone I’ve wanted to sign for a number of years, because I could see he could bring something extra to the Giants,” said Brown.

“I was confident he’d be a good, solid Super League player, but he’s already showing he’s much better than that.

“And that’s down to all the hard work he’s put in since he’s been here.

“He’s trained really hard from day one, does extra video sessions with (coach) Jamahl Lolesi and spends a lot of time on the conditioning side as well.

“It’s good to see he’s reaping the rewards and his challenge now is to maintain this level of performance.

“I’m expecting him to put in another big display at Wakefield on Sunday and show the fans – from both clubs – just what he can do once again.”
