THE Giants are confident of giving an excellent account of themselves in next Wednesday’s inaugural Carnegie Floodlit Nines competition at Headingley.

Huddersfield have been handed one of the toughest draws in the opening round, against hosts Leeds Rhinos.

But if they can overcome this trickiest of first hurdles, they should stand an excellent chance of winning this new and excitement tournament, which also features fellow Super League sides Wakefield, Hull and Hull KR.

Giants coaching staff are keeping their squad closely under wraps at this stage, although Paul Anderson has already hinted that the line-up should be strong. With Huddersfield boasting a virtually fully-fit squad, a good number of senior players could play, including the likes of Rod Jensen, Shane Elford and Michael Lawrence, who have not featured in Super League in recent weeks.

And with pace being such a valuable asset in Nines, it would be no surprise to see rising stars Jermaine McGillvary and Richard Lopag given their chance.

All will, of course, soon be revealed.
