ROBBIE PAUL is ready to lead the Giants’ Super League challenge at Harlequins tomorrow (3.00) – without the distraction of watching out for his big brother.

While Robbie feels fighting fit ahead of the capital showdown, Henry has been ruled out with a back strain.

And although nothing would give him greater pleasure than getting the better of his older brother, Robbie knows all that matters tomorrow is collecting the League points and keeping the Giants on the play-off track.

“I feel sorry for the old man,” said Robbie. “We didn’t face each other at the Galpharm earlier in the season when we were both injured, and we obviously won’t be clashing again this weekend. That’s a shame.

“But, at the same time, it’s a bonus for us, because Henry has been playing really well, and not having to worry about him is one less distraction for me.

“And right now that’s important.

“We’re now at the money end of the season, and this is when you have to stay really focused and make sure you don’t let your standards slip.

“Our excellent win at Wakefield last week has put us right back in the play-off mix, and we have to make sure we don’t slip back again.

“It’s not going to be easy.

“Harlequins are in the top six for a reason, and that reason is because they have been playing well and are a very big threat.

“I played with their coach Brian McDermott at Bradford for several years, and know what a strict disciplinarian he is.

“That’s been instilled into his side, and you know you’re going to have to play very well to break them down.

“But we know we can do it.

“Although we’ve just suffered a bad run, our defeats came against sides at the top end of the table and in form.

“And we feel we’ve beaten ourselves by the way we played.

“We have complete confidence in each other’s ability and know if we perform to our best we can start to climb back up the table. That’s what tomorrow is all about.”
