LEROY CUDJOE is hoping his promotion to the Giants' Super League squad is just the start of a dream.

The 18-year-old former Newsome Panthers junior yesterday signed a full-time two-year deal with his hometown club.

The utility back admits playing for the Giants at first-team level has been his goal since he joined the Panthers at the age of 10.

But having now fulfilled that dream, he has set his sights even higher.

"I'm Huddersfield born and bred, so to sign for the Giants is fantastic," said Cudjoe, who's primarily a full-back but has played at stand-off for the Academy on a number of occasions.

"But now I've got this far, I definitely don't want to stop.

"I've been at the club since I was 14 when I joined the Scholarship, and it's been tough having to work up from the Junior to the Senior Academy.

"I've done that now, and I'm ready to put in even more hard work to play for the Giants in Super League.

"Signing full-time was a brilliant feeling, but I know making my Super League debut will feel even better."

At 6ft 2ins and 14st 6lb, Cudjoe already has the size to prove a useful addition.

He is noted as a quality broken-field runner, but knows he is far from being the finished article.

"I know this is where the hard work really starts, and that I'll need to keep on improving to get my chance," he added.
