MARTIN ASPINWALL is hoping to celebrate the news of his contract extension by returning to winning action against Warrington Wolves at the Galpharm on Sunday.

The 25-year-old winger, right, has confirmed he will be staying at Huddersfield until the end of the 2010 campaign.

And he will look to celebrate the exciting announcement by recovering fully from a back strain that kept him out of last Saturday’s game at St Helens and get the Giants back on the winning track.

“I’m obviously delighted to be staying here, and to get three years is fantastic,’’ said the former Wigan ace.

“I’ve loved every minute here, and I hope I can continue to say that until the end of 2010 when the contract comes to an end.

“That’s something I’m sure will be achieved if we can start to fulfil our goals, starting by getting into the play-offs for the first time this season.

“It’s still going to take a massive effort, because this Super League competition is tougher than ever.

“But we have the ability to do it, and I hope I can play as full a part as possible.

“Although I’m thoroughly enjoying my time here, I’m still not happy with how many tries I’ve scored.

“I was joint top tryscorer last season, but this year I’ve only managed four because of missing the start of the campaign with my groin injury.

“Hopefully, I can quickly add to that and help the Giants pick up the wins that will get us into the top six.

“It’s great that I’ve got my future sorted out because it means I can just focus on the games ahead.

“You don’t want any uncertainty over your future hanging over your head.’’

But while Aspinwall is happy to have secured his own future, he is hoping others will follow his example.

“One of the reasons I was so happy to stay was because the club is going places,’’ he added.

“But I would like to think it could tie the rest of the squad to longer contracts, too, so we can continue to develop as a strong Super League power.

“The club has got so much going for it, and with the right quality of player on board we know we will only get better.

“Last year we reached the Challenge Cup final and this year we have our play-off destiny in our own hands.

“We know that if we can re-produce the form we showed the other month, then we can make it the most successful for the Giants in the Super League era.

“That would be absolutely fantastic.

“And, to round it off, I would love to be back in the Great Britain frame. If the Giants have a good season, I don’t see why not.’’
