RETURNING Giants hero Chris Thorman is confident the Huddersfield faithful will be delighted with the way the club is shaping up for Super League X.

Thorman and the Giants go into tomorrow's pre-season clash at Bradford Bulls (3.00) as the underdogs.

But the former Huddersfield favourite, who is back at the club after spending the last two years at London Broncos and then top Australian club Parramatta Eels, believes the club has never been in better shape.

And the 24-year-old is hoping that is immediately reflected in the display against the Bulls.

"I thought the club was great before I went to London Broncos," reflected Thorman.

"But in the two years I've been away it's become even better.

"The standard of the facilities that are now at our disposal are spot-on, and that's helped in the way we have been able to prepare in pre-season.

"But what has given us even more confidence is the work we were able to do in Portugal last week.

"I would have to say that was one of the best rugby league experiences I have ever known.

"Everything about our time there was perfect.

"We knew we were going there to work very hard, but it was well worth it.

"It's really whetted our appetites for tomorrow's trip to Bradford. We believe we're ready to play.

"At this stage, I don't think the result is the be all and end all.

"This is the chance for us to try out the new combinations, and as the half-back in the team I really need this run-out to put the plays to the test, and against the Bulls we know it'll be a massive test.

"But we're confident of putting some good things together, which I hope the fans will appreciate."

As well as directing the side from the stand-off position, Thorman will also assume the role of goalkicker.

It is obviously something he has done with considerable success for the Giants before, and he is comfortable with being the main kicker tomorrow.

"I suppose I'm keeping the seat warm until Mick (De Vere) makes his debut," added Thorman, who could hand over the role to Paul March or Brad Drew at some stage.

"But I've always enjoyed it."
