WE came to Salford looking to spoil their party, but instead produced a performance like this!

We knew how much they had been talking up the importance of the game in the media all week, and we were aiming to add to that pressure by coming up with a solid display.

But when it came to the crunch, we simply weren't there, which was clearly bitterly disappointing.

We just never seemed to get going, and that's why I had made 10 of my 12 interchanges after 60 minutes.

I was trying to find that combination which could provide the right spark, but it never came.

Within a very short time it was pretty clear the week off had made us lose some of the momentum we had built up in beating Wakefield in our last game 13 days before.

I know Salford also had a free weekend, but that enabled them to re-group, and that paid off for them.

At the end of the day, however, we really do only have ourselves to blame.

This was a game where we contributed to our own demise.
