I thought the players did well defensively and executed superbly on attack.

On the other hand, I felt the Giants were well below their best, and I hadn’t seen that from a Huddersfield side before.

They made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes that gave us some good field position, and my players capitalised on those exceptionally well. I have to give them a lot of credit for that.

To be honest, it’s been a tough couple of weeks for us after the way we were rolled over by Bradford Bulls in the Challenge Cup and then by St Helens in the League a week ago.

But I thought my players came up with the perfect response. I really couldn’t be much happier.

I don’t know if Kevin Walters will be taking too much notice of our results just yet (he is taking over as head coach of the Dragons next season when Potter takes over at St Helens), but if he does, I’m sure he’ll be as delighted as me with this one.
