ANXIOUS Giants coach Jon Sharp was today checking on the fitness of full-back Paul Reilly in the wake of last night's controversial 20-0 Super League defeat to Hull.

The 27-year-old suffered a suspected broken jaw towards the end of last night's McAlpine clash and went to hospital to determine the full extent of the damage.

The injury capped a night of frustration and anger for Sharp and his side, with the handling of the match by referee Russell Smith being a major talking point.

Smith and his officials missed a blatant forward pass which helped Hull score the crucial opening try and he then went on to sin-bin Darren Fleary and Paul March in the second half as the Giants, with two `tries' disallowed, found themselves on the wrong end of a 15-7 penalty count.
