GIANTS full-back Paul Reilly is back in full training, with Friday's vital visit to St Helens in his sights.

The 28-year-old has missed the last three games because of an ankle injury.

The Moldgreen man is desperate to return and help his side snap a six-match losing sequence which has hit their Super League play-off hopes.

And coach Jon Sharp, who had just 16 fully-fit players at Widnes on Sunday, when the Giants lost 24-18, is eager for options as he tries to find a winning formula at the ground where he was assistant to coach Ian Millward before joining Huddersfield in the close-season.

"We were hopeful Paul would make it at Widnes, but he wasn't right and it just wasn't worth the risk," explained Sharp, who had to field second row Stuart Jones, who is on a season's loan from Saints, despite illness.

"This time Paul will have had the benefit of a full week's training and we're optimistic."

Sharp, who is due to meet referees boss Stuart Cummings to air his grievances about the officiating of recent Giants matches, is keeping close tabs on forwards Chris Nero (chin and leg) and Ben Roarty (ribs).
