ENGLAND European Nations Cup final hero Paul Reilly is hoping his man-of-the-match display will help inspire him to produce the Super League form of his life for the Giants.

Reilly checked back in with his hometown club yesterday after spending the past month with the international side.

During that time he travelled to Russia and picked up a heavy knock against the French.

But it was collecting the Jean Galia medal as man-of-the-match in the final as Reilly's England beat Ireland 36-12 that was the obvious highlight.

And the 28-year-old is already looking to build on that stunning performance when Super League X gets under way in 2005.

"This year has been the best year for me and the best year for Huddersfield in Super League," said the former Moldgreen junior.

"It had been great even before I was picked for England.

"But to finish the year with an England cap and getting the man-of-the-match award in the final was the icing on the cake.

"This has to be the highlight of my career.

"Everything about the final was brilliant, and I have to say a very special `thank you' to the Giants fans who made the trip over to Warrington to support me.

"I could hear them cheering throughout the game and it again made me appreciate how great the Huddersfield fans are.

"I'd been feeling a bit under weather, that's why I had to come off after an hour.

"But their encouragement kept me going for longer, and for that I really am very grateful.

"I now want to give them even more to cheer at the Giants next season.

"There's been a fair amount of talk this week about me being called up into the Great Britain squad.

"That would have been fantastic and another dream come true.

"But, to be honest, now I'm back at the club all I really want to do is get ready for the start of next year.

"Being part of the England squad and training with the Great Britain boys has given me a massive lift.

"It's made me all the more determined to go on and have a good year in Super League next year.

"Everyone knows next season's competition will be the toughest ever, and I want to be in the best possible shape when it gets under way."
