WATCHING our defeat against Castleford Tigers on video hasn't been a very pleasant experience.

Reviewing games is obviously a key part of a coach's job, because it gives you the opportunity to analyse the play in far more detail and right any wrongs.

But I have to admit it's been pretty hard having to sit through this particular performance on a number of occasions.

The first half wasn't too unpleasant.

Although our opening 40 minutes was hardly the greatest we've produced, we still put ourselves in a position to kick-on and finish strongly.

But what can I say about the second half?

We struggled with field position and our completion rate was well below an acceptable level.

As a result, we were unable to put our opponents under any real pressure and they made the most of it.

So, the key this week has obviously been to make sure we don't see a repeat again this season. It's been about fixing up what we did wrong.

And there were certainly one or two technical things that contributed to the poor second-half show.

But what was also a factor was our energy levels on the day. To put it bluntly, they were poor.

It's now pretty clear that the Catalans game the week before took a lot more out of the players than we had hoped.

We knew the Dragons match had been very physically demanding.

It was played in 32-degree heat, with the ball in play for far longer than the average game and we didn't wrap up the contest until the final minute.

As a result, we were still suffering the following week, as, too, were Catalans, who were far from at their best against Wigan.

So, this week, we need to be smart with our energy levels.

It's a short turn-around for us, with the boys back in action at Bradford Bulls tomorrow night.

That makes it tough, especially against a Bradford side who have an extra two days on us.

They were, of course, in action last Friday when they secured that excellent victory over St Helens.

And that will obviously give the Bulls an extra spring in their step.

Hopefully, we'll have one or two of our injured players back and we'll start to look a little more solid once again, which is clearly vital against a side like the reigning Super League champions.

We all know it's going to be a huge challenge for us, but if everyone plays to their full potential anything is possible.

Even in defeat at Castleford, there were some positives, and if the likes of Chris Nero, Stuart Donlan and Steve Snitch can reproduce the form they showed last Sunday and their teammates follow their lead, there's no way the Bulls will have everything their own way.

What we will also need tomorrow is the sort of never-say-die attitude shown by Stephen Wild when he chased back to deny Waine Pryce a late try when the game had gone.

That's what we all want to see tomorrow night - and more!
