ROBBIE PAUL has almost certainly played his final game for the Giants.
Speculation is mounting the 31-year-old New Zealand star will be snapped up by Salford City Reds to spearhead a bid for an immediate return to Super League.
It is believed the Giants were keen to retain Paul’s services in community development, but not as a player.
However, Paul has made it clear he wants to continue playing, with French Super League side Catalans Dragons, Welsh club Celtic Crusaders and Doncaster, as well as Salford, showing considerable interest.
Paul said: “There’s not too much I can say right now, because a lot of things are still up in the air. I’m still speaking with the Giants, but there are other tempting offers as well.
“I’m keeping all my options open.”
Salford have just been relegated from Super League and, with a new stadium on the way, are desperate to secure a top-flight franchise for 2009.
And with players of the calibre of Paul on board, the City Reds would be in pole position to re-join the game’s elite competition.
