ROD JENSEN is ready to embark on pre-season training with the Giants for the first time determined to build on last season’s progress to the play-offs.

The 28-year-old utility ace didn’t arrive until June last year following his move from Australian club North Queensland Cowboys.

As a result he was thrown in at the deep end, making his debut in the Challenge Cup defeat at Bradford.

But he is now relishing getting two months’ Super League preparation under his belt and getting to know his teammates even better.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Jensen.

“It was tough arriving here last season, because I knew so little about the way the side played. That’s the sort of thing that gets drilled into you during the pre-season work.

“But that’s obviously going to change this time around. I’ve come back from my holiday in Australia early so that I can get to work straight away.

“It’s freezing here (it was 38 degrees when he left Queensland and just 8 when he arrived here!), but apart from that it’s great to be back.

“I absolutely loved being part of this Huddersfield squad at the end of last season, and helping us reach the play-offs for the first time was a real thrill.

“But I think we can do even better, and I would love to do more myself on the back of a full pre-season.”
